COVID-19 responses from WCB

The Edinburgh Protein Production Facility (EPPF) will play an important role in the newly established COVID-19 Protein Production Consortium (CPPC). This national network aims to provide essential protein reagents to support SARS-CoV-2 research, through the COVID-19 Protein Portal.

In addition to the EPPF, the network includes expert scientists from Diamond Light Source, the Francis Crick Institute, the MRC Protein Phosphorylation and Ubiquitylation Unit, MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, the Rosalind Franklin Institute, STRUBI, the Structural Genomics Consortium and the University of Bristol; with logistical support from Instruct-ERIC and coordination and support from Wellcome.

The EPPF Manager, Dr. Martin Weir will participate in the Network Coordination Group, as well as leading the contribution from EPPF to the network.

This important initiative will provide researchers with much-needed tools to better understand the virus, which is vital to the development of future vaccines and treatments.
