Julie Welburn receives EMBO Young Investigator Award

Julie Welburn has been selected to receive one of this year’s prestigious EMBO Young Investigator awards.

The EMBO Young Investigator Programme was established in 2000. The annual, highly competitive selection process identifies recent group leaders with a proven record of scientific excellence. The award provides financial and practical support for a period of four years to help them develop their skills and connections. Support includes an award of 15,000 Euros, with the potential for additional funding; mentoring from a senior scientist from the EMBO community; access to training in leadership skills and responsible research practices; networking opportunities; use of the core facilities at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory in Heidelberg, Germany; and travel grants for the Young Investigators and their research groups to attend conferences.

The 2018 group of Young Investigators comprises 26 junior life science researchers based in 11 countries, including two European Molecular Biology Conference (EMBC) Associate Member States: India and Singapore. They will join a network of 102 current and 314 past EMBO Young Investigators.
